It can be really difficult to find quality information on the web. The search engines are usually pretty reliable but sometimes you get a lot of spam for your search results. For this reason directory websites are still a good source of information for you. High quality directories approve great websites that users will find helpful. With directories you are getting results that humans think are worthy of checking out. With search engines you are getting served results that machines think are worthy of being checked out. For this reason I prefer to find websites through directories whenever possible. The search engines can be tricked which is why spammy websites with no useful information often rank so highly.
